In Shoe News

There are a ton of reasons to wear platforms during the summer (BTW, today is the summer solstice) and making your legs look taller and leaner is definitely one of them. Last week’s photo on Instagram featuring this shoe and all sorts of cool-ass accessories has left me begging for answers on today’s question: Platforms or flatforms? In other words, if a platform could be morphed into a shoe without “legs”, would you wear it? The endless debate begins. Michael Kors platform sandals, vintage Chanel I have been wearing platforms for a very long time, since I realized that my bones weren’t stretching more than a lame five feet tall. I love they way they discreetly add a younger and hipper vibe to my look du jour. However, there... Read More

Pyjamas

Remember Pajama Day back in elementary school? It was fun to show up in a fluffy robe and terry slippers to class and show off your teddy, not your textbooks. Wearing innerwear as outerwear has been a major trend over the past few seasons and as luck may have it, I’ve been avoiding showing up in my lingerie on the streets of the city. Despite the fact that a majority of fashionistas refuse to accept it, many designers like Stella McCartney, Hermes, Clemence Ribeiro, Antonio Marras, Haider Ackermann, Jil Sander, Richard Nicoll, and Jonathan Saunders showed boudoir attire on the runways. I happen to especially love the slouchy pants below.   Stella McCartney Haider Ackermann Spring 2012 I don’t like dressing in negligees mainly because the whole... Read More

Céline Resort

I have been admiring Phoebe Philo’s last few seasons as designer at Céline and this Resort Collection is blowing my mind. A long time Céline fan, Philo has mainstreamed her collection into a highly-edited, sophisticated, and lust-worthy signature line. Her accessories have become the status symbol—-the Luggage tote is on every upwardly mobile Upper East Side woman’s arm. It was on my what I wore to Fashion week last season and doesn’t show signs of losing its luster. Philo introduced this new bag for Resort–the All Soft, a zipless fold-0ver tote which I am currently crushing on. On the clothes front, there’s just something about Mary a crisp white suit with a short jacket and flared pants that’s oh-so chic it hurts. Strong outerwear with... Read More

Father’s Day Gifts

As if shopping for Mother’s Day wasn’t hard enough, this weekend is Father’s Day — the one time of year to dote on good ol’ Dad. I don’t know about you, but for me, it sucks to buy men gifts. I love the men in my life, Daddy’s girl all the way, but I would rather do anything than shop for him. Men. They are, simply put, difficult to shop for. But fear not! In case you haven’t bought Daddy dearest anything yet, now would be a great time to snag that perfect gift. I struggle every year on what to buy for my dad, no a new pair of socks won’t cut it, but with a little research I have done for you below,... Read More

Denim shorts

The warm weather days of June bring out the desire to whip out something as simple as a pair of jorts and a fresh white t-shirt. Although this somewhat fickle weather has us not quite skipping out of work and heading to the beach, summer is a’coming. Looking back on those 100-degree scorching heat days of last summer the thought of putting on anything even resembling a simple pair of pants on our sweaty bodies has me sticking to the seat. (Except, of course, for these Tangerine tissue weight dreamy pair). July is the perfect excuse for breaking out a pair of denim cut-offs, as if you really needed one.  I’m pulling a Martha in this post and getting all crafty on your ass by transforming a pair of plain vintage... Kelly Wearstler

Renowned interior design guru, trendsetter, and now fashion designer, Kelly Wearstler, went raw for her Resort collection aptly titled “When animals attack.”  Known for her use of bold prints and bright color palettes, Wearstler went wild, adorning fabrics with claw marks, serrated teeth marks, tiger motifs, and plenty of camouflage. The preview was held in Wearstler’s showroom on the rooftop of the Starret-Lehigh building on 26th Street right off the West Side Highway, a respite from the midtown bustle. Take a peek at the small but refined collection below and see what I will be craving come next winter. Wearslter’s new favorite medium are sweaters because they remind her of tapestries. Can you say love?   Hints of safari peeked out from the collection and animal depictions on... Read More

City Dressing

Honoring my love affair for all things lustrous, I am putting myself in the spotlight again. If there ever was any doubt in your mind that metallics are having a moment, summer in the city should wipe that crazy notion straight out of your head for good. Not just reserved for the glitterati and galas, metallics should find their way into your daily wardrobe. Treat them as the new neutral. From shiny bags and shoes, to tops and jackets, I find these of-the-moment gunmetal shiny things look taking the expected for a ride. Take a peek below to get the gist, just keep your eyes out on this city sidewalks for the glare. Theysken’s Theory silver top, Dannijo neckwear, Christopher Kane neon biker jacket, J Brand denim low-rise flare... Read More

Spring Sample Sale Swag

Who doesn’t love a great sale? On designer duds? At over 70% off retail? Seriously, I didn’t think so. I tend to go a little crazy for sample sales, and I bet if you look closely at me in the next few months worth of photos, I will be wearing most of my purchases on a daily basis. The truth is, I love a bargain. And to me, what’s even better is when I shop these sales, I am not only promoting the economy, but recycling in a glammy way. The skinny: Unwanted threads that go marching down the runway, are fitted on models, and never get produced; becoming one-of-a kind samples for us mortals. The sizes range, but I find they are normally a size 4 and... Read More
