Red White and Blue Bonanza

Happy Tuesday! For some reason it doesn’t feel as celebratory to have a major holiday like the 4th of July in the middle of the week. Is everyone taking the week off? If not, don’t blame me, I didn’t make the calendar. Regardless, I am certainly not lacking in the style inspiration department for the day. So perhaps this is the time to celebrate America’s true spirit and don your stars and stripes. There are plenty of patriotic apparel websites available to purchase the latest red, white, and blue garb but what if, let’s throw this out there, you just got invited to jump on a celebrity-filled yacht to sail the New York harbor for premiere viewing of the Macy’s fireworks? For one thing, what... Read More

Star Spangled

Happy Monday!! Happy July!! What did you have for breakfast? How was your weekend? Lots of questions and exclamation points this morning. I am truly sorry for having slammed your inbox with something as meaningless as this, but I beg you to answer this: how are you celebrating the Fourth of July? Since July 4th falls on a Wednesday this year, you probably don’t know when to celebrate it. In any case, there are fireworks to spark your holiday, and, of course, stars and stripes to wear on your body to show that you care. KA-POW!! KA-BANG!! KA-BOOM! KA-POOF! The raw footage that you see below was taken at Blue and Cream, one of my favorite shops in East Hampton, NY. And here comes the... Read More

Vintage Finds

At the end of June, I try to break out my fabulous vintage finds — my treasure chest of lacy dresses, peter pan collars, double-breasted jackets with exposed zips, and denim cut-offs like these from Asos, and live life a little more simply. What I love about summer is you can go bohemian and look like you just hit the jackpot. Truth be told, the women in the 60s and 70s seemed to know how to do summer dressing best. Take a look at Jane Birkin. No really, she knew how to rock that frilly embroidered granny lace to a tee (he he).  Find a similar look here from Magda Berliner If you have been following my blog, I really enjoy manipulating old things and making... Denim on Denim

A far cry from the days of the Canadian Tuxedo, otherwise known as the “denim sandwich,” today’s denim-on-denim trend defines the meaning of casual chic. For Resort 2013, designers created plenty of interesting inspiring denim on denim looks that are not only trend-driven but totally wearable. So my denim jorts post came in handy, right?  The trick is in the mix, my friends. Pairing light washes with darker shades make the look ultra–ultra everything. Denim is clearly having a moment. And although you may not be able to wear those ripped cut-off shorts to work, hello, it is the fabric of our generation. From Derek Lam to Givenchy we go: I started to wonder if I could embrace this trend right now, what would I wear? For... Read More

The Shorts Report

Hi ho, hi ho, its off to work we go. Although summer is a time to chill out and wear the bare minimum, most of us worker bees still have to sit at a desk and report to a boss. Um, HELLO..Money? Recently an advertising executive friend of mine said that although she would love to wear my featured ripped jorts to the office, under her wardrobe guidelines, it’s not happening. She would have to save those shreds for trips to the beach. My wheels started to turn as her sentiments on wearing that exact look to work would be a challenge. Because this is an ambiguous question, there will be ambiguous answers, therefore plenty of opinions. My answer? Ditch the skirt separates, and too-hot dresses, and... Read More

On Overalls

And not just any pair of overalls, actually, but leather ones. A few days ago, these 3.1 Phillip Lim overalls showed up on my Moda Operandi news feed and I nearly fainted. These are the chicest version of overalls I ever did see. With tapered legs, detachable straps, and front metal fastenings, I really hadn’t declared my love on the farmer-inspired trend until now. Emphasizing graphic lines in his Resort collection, Lim addresses the urbanite with a workmanly spirit. What is a workmanly spirit anyway? I bet you can figure that out. The only part about the overalls that I cannot connect with is the haphazard... Read More

Celebrate summer

Summer is officially here and what better way to celebrate than with a vast selection of outdoor events from now until September that will keep your iCal as busy as ever. Alfresco everything is a great way to get in the summa groove and sit back and enjoy the music, so to speak. Although this is not a guide to my favorite concerts, festivals, parades, and fireworks, it is a more a OMG what do I wear to wait in line at the Great Lawn at 4pm to snag a ticket to see Shakespere in the Park with my bestie. Here is a little board of ideas that you can wrap your head around before you head out to the park. You don’t want to... Read More

Bloggerini hosts The Housewives of New York

Here is a recap of a fun-filled evening that included a fashion show/Pinot Grigio tasting hosted by Bloggerini founder Katlean de Monchy, featuring RHONY Star Ramona Singer and Alex McCord. Katlean de Monchy hosted her monthy Bloggerini event at the sought-after venue on the rooftop of The Sports Club/LA-Upper East Side. The event showcased bridal dresses from Camillelavie and some skimpy bathing suits from La Maison De Pascale. It was my fantastic idea to have bloggers as models, including myself, to walk the walk in a runway presentation in standout dresses and featured looks by Nina shoes (mine were fantastic) and accessories by Eric Javits. Daniel Weiner and his star team transformed all the bloggers into stunners for the evening, and everyone got their 15 minutes of... Read More
