Father’s Day Gifts

As if shopping for Mother’s Day wasn’t hard enough, this weekend is Father’s Day — the one time of year to dote on good ol’ Dad. I don’t know about you, but for me, it sucks to buy men gifts. I love the men in my life, Daddy’s girl all the way, but I would rather do anything than shop for him. Men. They are, simply put, difficult to shop for. But fear not! In case you haven’t bought Daddy dearest anything yet, now would be a great time to snag that perfect gift. I struggle every year on what to buy for my dad, no a new pair of socks won’t cut it, but with a little research I have done for you below, it will not be a will-he-love-it-or-hate-it debate. I am always up for making my Dad dress “cool” with a brand new Hawaiian shirt and khakis pair of jeans, but usually just a hug and a card is all he really wants. Let’s go above and beyond the call of duty and return all those parental niceties back to Dad. I know there’s always room for a little something extra special. Yes, that’s me.

Of course there are countless gadgets and gizmos to choose from, a chore laid onto the gift giver, but it is worth pondering these questions before you click submit. Is he a techno-freak? Does he love to save money? Is he on the bleeding-edge of style? Does he need to trim down his daily load? Does he have enough stuff? Once you have answered these questions, it is easier to think about that father who raised you, or didn’t, but regardless, he did in fact get 50 percent credit in creating your life. That said, make him happy! Peruse below for my go-to list.

Sperry Top-Sider boat shoe for the Dad who loves to sail on the high seas. For the oh so stylish Dad, I would go for the Emporio Armani cuff links , a Gucci silver money clip to keep his money where it should be, and a Rag and Bone bow tie for that impromptu mega watt NYC gala. A Michael Kors Runway Watch for the guy who doesn’t check time (who looks at a watch?) but just wants to look cool. For that techno-freak, a new Apple iPad with WiFi  is the ultimate toy for boys. A bottle of Yves Saint Laurent L’Homme Cologne — a not-so-subtle gift for the smelly Dad. For the metrosexual Dad, who likes to travel, a pair of Orlebar Brown Monte Carlo Bulldog Trunks and a pair of cool Ray-Bans will do the trick. And finally, if he hates flying, tickets to the Met Game will more than suffice. Hubba Hubba.

Happy Shopping!
