Physical exercise is so important in so many ways. This is not a medical journal but keeping your body moving, raising and lowering your heart rate, stretching. Standing while working is also great for the body in general. It doesn’t matter how much you do, just doing it sometimes is good enough. I feel so much better mentally and physically when I get in my daily exercise and I notice I’m lower on energy when I decide to skip class. It’s so important for me to feel great during the week because I’m much more productive and motivated when I get my fix. Exercise raises endorphins which keep your body in check and feeds your brain all the nutrients it needs to grow. When Athleta asked me to do a post on exercising while away on a trip, I thought it was a perfect fit. When I travel, no matter what city, I get to the gym or get outside to take a walk or a hike. That way I really get the know the city I am by exploring city streets, or mountains in the distance. I am up for anything and testing my boundaries in all facets of my life.

Below a few of my tips that I’ve incorporated into my routine since the new year. Check them out below, hopefully they can help you achieve your goals this year too.

Up for Anything

Start every morning by drinking warm water with fresh lemon. It is amazing for digestion by flushing out all the bad toxins that have been kept in your body from the previous day and throughout the night. By doing this, it helps with bloating, clears and brightens your skin and also gives you a little extra energy boost.

Pack light and don’t forget sneakers. When I travel, its important that I keep up with my fitness routine. Sometimes I even pack a resistance band if I know I won’t have that much time to devote to my workout and just do a 10 minute workout in my room!

Find a workout buddy. This is to always easy when you are away from home. Finding a workout buddy that supports you and will workout with you will only motivate you to reach your full potential. It’s also super rewarding to see the results in each other if you are consistent.

Treat Yourself

Treat yourself to new workout attire. New workout clothes are always a plus. It’s nice to have a comfortable set that can be easily worn to the gym and also versatile for spending the day in them on the weekends during errands or a hike. I love versatile pieces that don’t always have to be worn at the gym. I wore this outfit throughout my trip to Austin Texas last weekend and were perfect to throw on after a workout and for an active day. The pants are fitted with lightweight compression that holds you in. These fitted tights take me there.

Do a workout you love. It is really important to do a workout you love, so you don’t get bored. Try out different classes and find out what you love and don’t. I don’t like running on a treadmill. Instead I do high intensity interval training 5 days a week like boxing, and I’ve noticed I still get a great cardio workout in and its not boring.

Don’t forget that eating well and getting a good nights sleep is important, if you get off track just remember tomorrow is a new day.
