Paris France

Part 1. The French Connection. There is nowhere more magical than Paris. It is the City of Lights. It’s tempting to think that Paris is unchanged, that there is always a corner of the city where you can really catch a glimpse of Fitzgerald or Hemingway at Brasserie Lipp, or stumble across Miles Davis en route to Saint-Germain. But the truth is that Paris is a city of constant change. Paris is a even more enjoyable place to be in today. It is more relaxed, the hauteur has softened. There is a certain joie de vivre there. Yes, the past is still alive —with its grande dame hotels, fashion flagships, and Michelin-starred eateries, but many have undergone a contemporary redesign or simplified their style.... Read More

The Coterie

No VIP passes to Mercedes Benz Fashion Week?  Don’t fret. New Yorkers in the know can still get their fashion fix without the hassle of the velvet rope.  The Coterie is the chicest show in New York with a global clientele who understand sophisticated, directional, and timeless clothing. Those that flock to the Coterie represent the cream of the crop in all areas of fashion and style.  This show is the center of the contemporary design universe. What could be better than that? Coming on the heels of  New York Fashion Week, over 3,000 vendors show at the Coterie . Unlike the fashion shows, at the Coterie  buyers and press can take in the lines at a less frenetic pace. If you’ve checked out my recent posts you... Read More

Fashion Designer

Chris Benz S/S 2012 Chris Benz is a favorite among fashionettes. I have been seeing an abundance of acid neon colors, akin to highlighters, on and off the runways.  Only a few designers can really pull it off. And Benz is one of them. Chris’ designs for the Spring 2012 collections are some of the brightest and daring out there. His line is sophisticated and chic while still being fun and whimsical. A tribute to Warhol played out in trippy florals and sixties-inflected prints in lime green, sherbet orange, and neon pink (to match the designer’s daring doo). As for the bright pink feather in my hair- I think I need to go even bolder!  If your eyes aren’t already boggled by Benz’s designs, take a look at his... Read More

Fashion this week.

Street Style. Fashion Week is finally over – at least the shows are-  and although the focus is on the designers and the clothes,  the abundance of  style outside of the tents spilling into the streets is always fascinating to me.  Fashionising around the clock for the last week, I’ve been trying to snap some of my favorite glam looks outside of the tents to capture a slice of NYFW, a la Bill Cunningham. I have much to share, so let’s get started on my  favorite looks from off the runways of NYFW.  What’s your favorite  pic?  Vote HERE  and leave your comments!

Spring 2012 Fashion trend: Bold vs. Soft

Part 1 Wow what a week! Spring has sprung for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, and my days have been jam packed running from Lincoln Center to off-site venues on the High-Line into every nook and cranny of NYC. Its non-stop a go-go.Keeping up with the shows,  connecting with old friends, meeting new and interesting people,  celeb spotting     ( I’m sure you heard about Nicki Minaj at Herarra, Beyonce’s appearance at J.Crew, and Michael Douglas at Kors)!  attending launch parties, and tweeting as much as humanly possible are all part of a long days (and nights) work.
