Monday’s Shows NYFW

I know it is Thursday, but after a whirlwind of fashion week activities and finally getting theses photos in my dropbox, I am able to play a little catch up now on my reviews from the week. I was told last night by a friend that the posts are only relevant if they go up the week the show happens, if not the day after. That is all well and good if you have a dream team of editors and photographers to back you up. One day, for sure. First up on my agenda was the Jenny Packham show at 9am on Monday morning. Taking us back to the 1940’s, a destitute time in American History, Packham’s collection remembers that era as the heyday of... Read More

Day 7 interruption

Day 7 of NYFW has reared its head and I seem to be plugging through the end of this week unscathed and smiling. Besides an iPhone that runs out of juice, therefore searching any bar or restaurant for a charging station, fashion week is coming to a close with a bang. I have so much to write and say and so little time. I wore this outfit yesterday for Valentine’s Day, a lady in pink and purple pastels, not red, as I wore red the other day. Recycling looks is NOT permitted in these zones. Check here just in case you missed it. Lo and behold I am ready to take on the last and final two days of NYFW in the highest way. Jes Wade... Weekend update Part 2

I missed the first few shows I was supposed to go on Saturday– it was snowing, albeit lightly, but sometimes familial duty calls. I was lucky to get to three shows which were each fabulous in their own right. Here’s my fashion roundup. First up, I went to see Herve Léger’s show, starting with the infamous bandage dress as a baseline. Max Azria‘s collection moved into new grounds as he headed into the darker side of the equestrienne motif. There were leather harnesses fastened around shoulders and waists and my favorite were the high slick ponytails reminiscent of horse tails. Look out for python stamped leathers, and wild black fur arms.   Photo Fashionising Next up was Tibi where Amy Smilovic took a leap forward into... Read More

Weekend update Part 1

It being Tuesday, Valentine’ Day, I am ready to report on the weekend that happened in fashion. There are many trends erupting as the days go on, so here is my roundup thus far. Starting off with the two Rebecca’s, Taylor and Minkoff on Friday afternoon. I start by focusing in on Rebecca Taylor’s new rocker-chic sensibilities. Veering off from her girly past, Taylor toughened up her feminine and flirty aesthetic through the use of menswear-inspired outerwear this season. There were tweeds and bomber jackets, a tribute the 90’s that I loved. The color palette was rich with mercurial hues, and by adding mismatched 90’s pieces, she did a fantastic job of layering. Take notice of the leather shorts and furry boots. You will be... Read More

Talking trends at MBFW Fall 2012

So far on the runways for Fall 2012  fitted looks, military influences, a continuation of the peplum, and fierce rough fashion are just of few of the hot new emerging trends. In sharp contrast to Spring’s flowy looks that dominated the runways, I am seeing a lot of menswear- inspired looks and great textured leathers, python, and iridescent fabrics. Victoria Beckham, DKNY, Prabal Gurung, and Alexander Wang were just some of the designers that nailed those concepts. During a short break on a schedule that is booked by the hour, I had a chance to chat with one of WGSN’s leading runway analysts, Maren Hartman, about her forecast for Fall. Traveling globally to find inspiration, WGSN is one of the leading fashion forecasters for top brands like... Read More

What I wore

Maje bright red top, Whistles trousers, Calypso vest, oldie but goodie belt, Marni, boots, Céline luggage tote, Zeffira necklace from Tru Grace, bracelets, Miriam Haskell, Cartier, Year of the Boar.  All photo credits by Michael Crook. Click here: http://www.michaelcrook.com/ My look for Day Two of Fashion Week is on trend for what’s happening right now on the runways: I am seeing lots of bright reds– a continuation from Spring, high-waisted pants (more of that in the coming days), statement shoes (blocked heels and cap toes), and of course the statement bag. On that, the tents seem to be more of a Celine luggage party rather than a showcase for the designers, but gladly I chose a unique color that pops out the most. Red is... Read More

NYFW RTW Fall 12 fashion hearkens back. Day one

Dress: Cacharel. vest, Michael Kors. Boots, Alain Quilici Starting the day off with this outfit was just the right way to lift up my spirits. I wore a short sleeve leather dress and bare legs in the middle of February… who would have thought! (As you can tell in this picture I was pretty psyched just to be around the tents so early in the morning). NYFW has gotten off to a great start and the Upper West Side has never seen so many posers. The ultimate is when I hear “All I’ve eaten is a Fiber One bar ” – it reminds me of the Sh*t Fashion people Say video maximized ten-fold. Here’s a quick round-up of Day One. The primary inspiration... Read More

Getting ready for Fashion Week…Day One

It’s T- minus nothing until Fashion Week starts (today) and I have prepared for you exactly what I said I would. See? Never fail on a promise. Although yesterday was the official commencement of  New York Fashion Week, cut to a ribbon ceremony by Victor Cruz just a few hours ago, the fashion circus has officially come to town. For this bi-annual event, I am excited to report on the trends, share ideas, and hunt for new inspiration, as it is my second season as a blogger/writer. After last season of  running around in 4 inch heels all day and chasing taxis around town, I just hope to be smiling when its over, joining the fashion ranks, or joining the sprinting team in the Olympics in...
