I love the way a chic navy dress has such a pulled together simple look yet can be the perfect complement to the rest of your daily wardrobe. I especially love ACNE’s take on the clean understated look, especially when their clothes fit me like a glove. This dress has a slim-cut, a round tight neck, cap sleeves and figure-hugging darts on shoulders and breast. There is even a continuous two-way-zipper which is hidden from view, on the back which lends a sporty vibe. I can see wearing this laid-back with sneakers or sexy with single-sole pumps. A convertible navy dress is something you will harbor in your closet for at least the next few years.

There are times when you need to be or pretend to be the lady who lunches. There are plenty of women who do this for a living, yikes! but for those of us that don’t, or have back-to-back meetings, throwing on a dress is the easiest way to accomplish the simple task of getting dressed. I threw on an ivory cable knit sweater, a snake skin clutch, and metallic booties to complete the look.

Any person worth her sartorial salt knows that true style doesn’t come from what clothes are in your closet, it comes from how the pieces are put together. After all, clothes can be bought, but style has to be learned.

In the game of need vs want, I find myself lured to only items that are on sale. On that note, Don’t forget Shopbop is having a sale ending tomorrow. Click here and enter INTHEFAMILY25 at checkout.
