That’s A Wrap

Gift-giving isn’t easy. There is so much holiday-giving anxiety, that just picking out the just right present can tie you up in knots. Ultimately, my mantra is give what you would like to receive and you will never lose. Think of the dream presents on your wish list and let your imagination fly. If you love it, odds are the gift receiver will too.

I started my journey last week at a Juicy Couture press event featuring their new California Dreaming collection, with Mariangela Petrone, a Scotch Brand gift wrapping guru who was demonstrating how to make a bow. There were Juicy tiger sweaters FTW, treats for all, and for me, an idea. A gift is personal – from the salt-water aquarium for your amphibian-lover brother to the homemade baked toast with chocolate sprinkled with sea-salt on top for your bestie. Ultimately, whether the gift-getter likes it or not, it is satisfying to know that your efforts came from the heart.

Here is a 3 minute intro to bow-making where I make my own bow. Why don’t you give it a whirl? All it takes is some gift wrap, ribbon and floral wire.

Really, it’s that easy. Just watch.

And just in case you don’t have that uncanny knack for what to bestow on your loved ones and question what to put in the beautiful box you just created, or you’re just too busy to shop, I’ve complied some visual cues that will be oh-so-helpful when you’re honing your holiday shopping list. I did some digging to find the most itty-bitty, special gifts around. So although I will not claim Santa Claus or Hanukkah Queen status, my collage is pretty rad.  So go ahead, make your bow, and pull that “Add to Cart” move. And tell me where you end up.
