Happy New Year! It’s 2017. Time to turn a new page, new perspectives, a new you? Did you make any resolutions? First of all, on a high note, I spent the first day of the new year relaxing and gathering my resolutions while still on holiday. Because, to come home to bills, food shopping, and work, isn’t a pleasant way to start the new year. I sat on the beach and contemplated not making any major New Year’s resolutions because consequently, they fail. Abandoning resolutions feels so freeing! I did come up with few attainable new goals for 2017. Especially relevant is my number one goal for the new year. And here it is. Always find reasons to laugh. Maybe I will try something new. I am not going to pressure myself to do things that I don’t want to do. For me, that is the key to more happiness.

New Goals for 2017

Stop procrastinating.

There are so many times that I stop in the middle of a project and it never gets finished. It is so annoying because ultimately I get mad at myself for leaving things mid-way. The fix? My daughter bought me this productivity planner. It has quotes, to-do lists and helpful ways to get organized and finish uncompleted tasks. I am going to use this every day! Because in the words from Benjamin Franklin, “if you fail to plan, you are failing to plan.”

Style goals.

If you’re anything like me, the new year has you cleaning out your closet and thinking about your style goals for 2017. I don’t need to achieve fashion nirvana, but here are some tips. Wear things that you love, not because they are trendy. Get rid of what you don’t love. If you haven’t worn something in over a year, get rid of it. I like to sell my things on Depop and The RealReal.

Have faith in yourself.

There’s a certain feeling associated with entering a new year. The spark in your stomach that says you can’t wait to see what 2017 has in store. The detoxifying mental cleansing you do to wash away the old and welcome in the new. The urge you have to change aspects of your life. To intensify those “new year, new you” feelings, I am dedicating January to renewal. I will start to incorporate articles filled with inspiration, and tips on how to press the restart button on your habits that will help 2017 be your healthiest and happiest year ever. A good tip? Write everything down. Including your goals for the day, month, year, etc. Turn to-do’s into just-did’s.

Most of all, let’s start this year with a bang.
