Girly

Summer is in high gear and after my recent trip to St. Barth, I have a slight craving for anything in the light pink or peach family, everything girly and floral little nothings.
The lifestyle there is oh so French, where the locals ride their Vespa or bikes to the market to pick up déjeuner, a baguette, and ride to the beach with their floppy hats displaying scantily clad bikinis. Aprés beach, there is always time for a refreshing glass of rosé, and evenings are reserved to get together with friends.

I do love summertime and all the things that come with it which includes a sense of joie de vivre. And the French, they know how to do it right. As far as sartorial choices, I saw a lot of Breton stripes, of course, and I did notice a few floral dresses, pink macarons, and buckets of espadrilles, that stayed with me throughout my journey. Now that I am back in the swing of  things back home, I am longing for these feminine details.

From left and down we go: Linda Farrow peach wayfarers, Stila eye compact in kitten, Clinique moisture surge CC cream, Marc Jacobs Daisy by Marc Jacobs Eau so Fresh spray, and Repossi Rose gold four-row ring. Calypso St Barth open lace top where the French beachy-wispy -flowy look gave birth, See by Chloé tux shorts, and the infamous Soludos for J. Crew espadrilles.  How about that delicate hair crown? I know I have mentioned it a number of times, but now seems like the perfect chance to pretend you’re running around in a field. There is one left, grab it here. How about the Sophia Webster Rose clutch. With all white, its ideal. Take a ride on this incredibly chic Martone bike and while you’re on the road, no trip to St Barth is worth anything unless you indulge in a little sweetness. I know they are available stateside at Ladureé, but I like cheating when I’m on vacation.

On an unrelated note, don’t even try to pretend you didn’t care about William and Kate’s baby boy: Twitter doesn’t lie. The newborn’s son, barely anything but an umbilical cord has more than 2 million followers. The still unnamed bouncing baby boy who will be known officially as His Royal Highness, is THE little dude. I was secretly hoping for a girl named Rose, as this ethereal vision emerged from the depths of my dreams, when Kate Middleton was about to pop. This is what I had in mind for her royal baby to wear. Now that he’s a he, oh baby, it looks like royal blue all the way. We can only hope for his future wife.

“And we’ll never by royals… it don’t run in our blood. That kind of lux just ain’t for us. Let me be your ruler, you can call me Queen B. And baby I’ll rule, I’ll rule. Let me live that fantasy.” Here’s to disappointing cracked up dreams.
