Denim Skirt

Acne T-shirt McGuire denim skirt Bossa satin bombers, SHOP SIMILAR Bow Belt Rabbit Rabbit. Happy first day of August! Here we are on a beautiful summer’s day, I am drinking my iced latte, and talking about denim, a basic that will always stand the test of time. Jeans and denim jackets are my go-to classics, but a denim skirt took me back a few years. When I first realized that denim skirts were making a comeback, I hesitated to jump on this trend. After all, I lived through the 70’s. Back then, I used to wear polos and t-shirts with my denim. Now, fashion is different, but it’s not. After some deliberation, the realization hit me. I live in all things denim and comfort to me, always... Read More

Nordstrom Sale, A Survival Guide

Hi guys! Summer is heating up, but Nordstrom is taking Fall fashion to another level. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is in full swing. The sale opens up to the public tomorrow so here’s your chance to load up on some goodies for way less than the retail price. Some items have already sold out and others are starting to, so I wanted to get this post up sooner rather than later so that you can get an idea of my favorite picks. I love this sale because you can get a head start on simple fall items. The tendency is to wait because it’s so hot outside – ! but this time it’s well worth investing now before the season begins. As far as sizing tips... Read More

Statement Pieces

I have been on a quest lately to test the future of fashion as we know it. I only buy what I truly love, or one-of-a-kind statement pieces. But this is getting harder and harder to do. I believe consumers feel the same way. I shop on instagram for inspiration, scour vintage sites online, and as a result, I am adding to the failing retail system. There are so many great things to be discovered online,  and the value in committing to the centralized space that is a singular specialty retailer or department store doesn’t hold as much weight as it used to. Does fashion ruffle your feathers anymore? Do you still shop in-store? My feeling is, If I am going to spend, I only want to buy statement... Read More

Stylist Challenge, How to Style All-White Look

Good morning! Hope you had a nice 4th of the July holiday. Today, I am excited to share with you something other than a simple outfit post. Last month at a fashion conference, I met Audree Kate, a stylist and fellow blogger, who blogs and styles at Simply Audree Kate. We immediately hit it off, connected, and have collaborated together on an how-to idea to challenge each other. Our idea was to do a stylist challenge, how to style an all-white look. Meet the challenge Wearing all white can be intimidating to wear and we both wanted to show two ways to wear a monochromatic look. Everybody has a different idea of how to wear white, but it was not a challenge for me as I wear... Read More

An Affordable Look for Summer

An affordable look for summer As far as I am concerned the Fourth of July is for hot dogs and burgers, illegal fireworks on the beach, and spending time with family and friends. I love wearing a no-fuss outfit while I’m doing just that. This is the season of the dress, and incorporating red, white and blue is the way to celebrate the holiday in the chillest way possible. Another great styling tip, is to keep it cute in a matching and affordable floral set, then sneak in a hint of blue with some accessories. The key to low key style, is keeping it simple. I love an affordable look for summer that I can wear all season long like these breezy red dresses shown above. Perfect for a... Read More

Fashion’s Favorite Skirt Length

At first blush, the midi-skirt might seem like a challenging length. After all, it’s the same length as the kind of prom dresses school deans would approve of, graduation gowns, and button-front sundresses. Midi-skirts are adult-approved clothing that is about as cool as Vitamin D milk. But, midis have replaced maxi dresses, micro dresses, and below-the-knee skirts as the hem length du jour because of a very simple reason: they hit your leg at the skinniest part of your ankle. Therefore, giving you an extra visual boost in height. Take note, the midi skirt is having its moment in the sun. as fashion’s favorite skirt length. Fashion’s Favorite Skirt Length Even for Petites To wear them, you’ve got to extricate yourself from the mindset in... Read More

Black Before Labor Day

Love Shack Fancy dress Viajiyu flats, Shop similar For many of us New Yorkers, our closets can become a black pit of wonderfulness. In the summer, I switch off from wearing white to black depending on my mood and of course, where I am heading. When it is sweltering outside, I will, god forbid, wear color all of a sudden. On an ongoing rotating basis, I will stick to black before labor day. Style tips on wearing black The first step is to acknowledge that the cards are stacked against you. Black and black fibers retain heat, therefore you will be hot. The good news is, air conditioning.  The second step is to go outside your comfort zone. Black is no-nonsense, all-purpose New York uniform. But... Read More

Khaki Over Black

Being sick for a few days really sucks. First of all, it was a beautiful summer weekend. And more than anything I hate it’s being stuck in bed. Will not bore you with the details, as I am sure you can all relate. But as a constant do-er, it was, and still is hard for me to sit still. A change from regular programming, I had a few takeaways from the experience. I decided to take a more positive approach about the situation. One of the perks to being at home, was that I cleaned out my closets. I still was hanging onto some items that I no longer love, and was also missing some key pieces. For those feeling like their daily getup is getting... Read More
