Winter Chill

Fashion Week in New York ended last week like it always does on the third Thursday of February following a Marc Jacobs show, but this season more than ever felt like the end. I ended up skipping some shows over the Valentine’s weekend, not because I don’t love my job, it was just so freaking cold that it seemed too complicated to get dressed. Fashion should be some sort of theatrical experience, or at least a joy to show off your style, and in this case I cast blame on myself for having the case of fashion week fatigue. I had outfits lined up that just never panned out due to fashion malaise. My look for the one or even two of the days was all black with a splash of color and plainly — unremarkable. I blame it on the conflict I have going on in my head and my closet that used make getting dressed a quick process. When I overthink it too much, rather than a game-changer, it becomes a big mess. So what if I wear a black sweater, pants, boots and coat during Fashion week? Yes, it’s simple, but it’s not bad. I played with a lot of texture to this all-black outfit, which flipped the switch from simple to just a bit more oomph which was just fine with me. Magically I blame my current style rut on the winter chill.

Don’t be fooled, underneath all these black layers are layers of tech fabric to keep me from getting frostbite. I am looking forward to warmer months ahead!
