Versace for H&M. Be Bold.

Last night Versace launched their collection for H&M. Another collaboration between mega fashion house and mass market retailer. A bad-ass rock-n-roll collection. And it is on its way to stores, November 19th. I think the whole collaboration between high fashion x mass market =  a deserving separate blog post on its own – but I am going to start here.

For the launch party, Donatella Versace threw an over-the-top blockbuster event that matches the magnitude of the collection. There were over 500 specially invited guests in a coveted Pier on the Hudson River. Versace was joined by her star-studded posse which included Jessica Alba, Blake Lively, Linda Evangelista, Jennifer Hudson, Uma Thurman, Chace Crawford and many others.  But I’m not going to tell you about the celebs…you’ll have to check another blog for that gossip. What about the clothes? A runway show presented looks from the collection, which included an array of screaming-bright statement pieces, neon animal prints, palm tree-covered pants, imitation leather accents, etc. In other words, BOLD PRINTS. Everything you would expect from Versace. I’m all for boldness, and I’m sure it will be a smashing success. The line is bit pricier than most H&M finds, (prices range from $20 to $200) but it’s probably well worth it.  Here is a preview of the 43-piece collection for both men and women, which is in homage to Gianni Versace who was killed in 1997. I’m sure he would approve. You decide for yourself.

Will you be so BOLD?

Missoni for Target will be a follow up. What about the fact that you couldn’t buy it in stores (sold-out within minutes) or on-line (because their site crashed)!!
