Unplugged

For the first time in a very long time, I feel naked. Nakedness buys you the feeling of freedom. Without all the materials that cloak our bodies, we are left with our own thoughts, feelings, desires and needs stripped down to the bare minimum.

Clearly, it is not because I have nothing to wear.

It is not because my entire closet was donated to Goodwill behind my back.

It is not because I impulsively decided to move to Colorado and live in a tent.

No, for 24 hours, I am without a phone. It is my digital security blanket and I feel lost without it.

I am therefore forced to live without my third appendage, something I have not lived without EVER. After the initial psychological breakdown, I noticed my fingers tingling and yearning for that screen. Checking that phone constantly became a rite of passage in my daily existence. Technology has a way of creeping into our lives in both positive and negative ways and what I do have is the extra time to surf the net, unplugged without disruption.

So I took the morning to visit the new Net-A-Sporter site to upgrade my workout gear and start getting in shape. There is nothing more annoying than worn-out looking workout sports bras and leggings begging for a refresher course when your goal is to look your best.

And it comes just in time, hey it’s mid-July! for that perfect beach bod.

This is sportswear as chic as everything else in my closet. Smart tennis looks that are anything but traditional, precision running pants, yoga and dance clothes you can really move in and a dedicated area for après-workout – this is sport with style.

And whatever sport Cara Delevingne is into even if it’s a boxing ad for Chanel, I would much rather throw the phone away when I get it back and start getting ripped.

How about you?
