The Backpack is Back

It’s Saturday afternoon and what a better way to spend it than sitting back and relaxing with a bloody mary in hand, laptops open, and embarking on this beautiful fall day. And why not go hands-free…with a backpack!? Our lives are so mobile, life is just easier commuting hands-free. The effortless of the sack makes it so successful. It’s time to step outside of the literal fashion curriculum and strap one of these on.

The best news I’ve heard all season? Sure, why not. School is for kids, but especially on a weekend day, you can feel comfort and ease, even if you’re not heading to fashion school.

At first I thought this 90′s fashion revival was just a passing fashion mood, but it seems to have caught up and keep expanding. Of course ’90′s fashion was not really the best, yet there’s something about the grunge meets girly decade that has us all going back and reminiscing on our teenage years.  I can remember Prada’s famously understated backpack – made from functional waterproof nylon  version. Launched in 1984, it wasn’t until 1990 that I could actually afford the over $500 price tag  and it was just about then that the bag achieved “it” status.

By contrast, today’s fashion backpacks are luxurious. For those of you are wary of reaching for an accessory they rocked as a 6-year-old, consider the fact that high-end designers from The Row, Gucci, Saint Laurent, Christopher Kane, Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, and Prada have all created luxe rucksacks.

If you’re anything like me, you’re starting to worry that our bodies will end up tilting to one side if we keep wearing our too-heavy totes. Luckily, you’re never too old to carry a backpack.
