Black and white comprise the backbones of my wardrobe. I started collecting black clothes when I moved to New York many years ago, and white has most recently been a refreshing non-color choice for me all summer long. Although ubiquitous color choices for fall, a woman cannot live on black and white alone. Enter the softer palette of navy. Recent collections by Lanvin and Chloé showed navy in brand new combinations look so fresh for Fall.
Specifically, for the girl who emerges from uniform dressing, there’s the Chloé woman, in a boy meets girl hauteur French way. These days navy is looking seriously chic. Take a look.
I would start the navy trend with a coat, and one that will last all season and beyond. A perfect layering piece, the military inspired coat might be the way to go.
Here’s the Lanvin version.
In a sea of fashionable black, navy really stands out. Navy is a softer shade against my face and btw, the shade looks really good on blondes. Not ready to ditch black quite yet? Neither am I, but the two make a terrific pair. As every French woman knows, navy and black are trés jolie.
Perhaps the next best way to get on the navy bandwagon, is to try it on for size. I just recently bought a pair of 3.1 Phillip Lim high-waisted navy shorts that I am in love with and cannot wait to wear. How about a fedora? Or a pair of KEDS? Here’s what I am currently craving.
From top left: Le Chapeau woven fedora, Loft aviator sunglasses, 10 Crosby by Derek Lam reverse knit sweater, paired with those Acne pistol navy suede boots down below. Any clutch will do but the one from Mawi with the glitter and crystal embelishments had me from the get go. For a simple option, go for the Acne silk dress, it’s a forever piece. And these Pour La Victoire cage sandals, only $227.00! What? Bobbi Brown Navy and Nude Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner for the perfect touch.
Want to go more casual? This Acne flower print sweatshirt is one of those trendy pieces that you are going to live in. Trust me. KEDS Taylor Swift Champion polka dot sneakers, $50.00. And finally, what a surprise! This Zara messenger bag, could be the best “New in” that’s crossed my path today.
