Three Easy Steps to Boost Up Your Style Quotient

If you are remotely interested in following the footsteps of street style stars during Paris fashion week, there are three easy ways to achieve that. I am told that you don’t need a lot to look of pure chic, but as an American, not a Parisian, I struggle with purchasing less. The French simply know how to get the je ne sais quoi very easily. They buy only the best of the best in luxury every season, add a few accessories, but only pick a select few. I have selected photos from the Chanel runway to demonstrate how to achieve this feat and then taken it to real life. Here are three easy steps to boost up your style quotient. Don’t forget to click on the hyperlinked bold text links and/or the photos I have included down below to take you directly to the website to purchase!

1. Add a pair of white and black sling backs and a chain bag to your wardrobe.

Slingbacks add the right dash of chic to your everyday look. For more comfort, the chunky heel is best and it is so right now. Seen on the Chanel runways as pictured below, the show included a single pair of classic black and beige slingbacks. This did not detract from the diversity of the simultaneous puffer coats and ladylike skirts, sleek boxy jackets, and elaborate dresses of the rest of the collection. Boom.

As far as chain bags go, they don’t get simpler than these babies. I also have included less expensive options below to recreate the look without breaking the  bank.

2. Add the concept of lace to your skirt or dress.

Yes, I know it’s freezing out already but whose to say you can’t add lace with knee high boots? And wear it over these pants which I plan to do this week.

I prefer white skirts to achieve this look and have also included black just in case…Just in! I just found this awesome one on sale.

3. Mix up your textures.

I like the clean look of a head-to-toe monochromatic theme, but at the last minute I added this gold embroidered vest to add some volume and pizzaz. Embroidery is a big theme this fall, but you can also add velvet, suede, wool, fur, or just about anything that isn’t well, boring. It adds panache to the whole gestalt.

As for a bonus point? Add a choker to finish it off. because chokers are HOT.

I’m inclined to vote in favor of the above mantra pretty relentlessly. You really only need a few pairs of shoes, a few pairs of jeans/ leggings, and some trendy accessories. This is only good news, not for the aforementioned cost-effectiveness it espouses than because with the absence of choice, 80% of your problems are almost immediately relinquished. I am currently in the throws of selling my unwanted threads here on Depop for those remotely interested in clearing your closets and starting fresh.

How many shoes are too many shoes and would you commit to a pair a season with no problem? And if so, which would they be? I put my vote in for these…

Would you wear a lace skirt? How would you wear it? Comments always welcome down below!
