If the summer months are to teach me anything it is most definitely that delicate fine jewelry outweighs chunky chunkers by a landslide. Part of the reasoning is as follows: Numero Uno : jewelry with massive stones (think in pounds) and chunky cuffs can be very heavy and nobody wants to be worn down in this heat. Number 2. Difficulty of taking weights on and off could pose a problem especially if you are going in and out of the water, and finally number 3: the sun’s rays glistening on the dainty stuff looks fantastic on bronzed skin. It’s been a few weeks since the ritual of taking the oversized cumbersome chains and stuff on and off seemed to slip away from my daily routine and I’m OK with that. I blame it on all the local shops on the East End showcasing the delicate delights, it is now time to store those heavy mothas (take note of the 5 pounds you just lost), and travel lightly my friend. Enter the fineries below. Three skull knuckle dusters and possible toe rings included.
Top row: Jane Hollinger sweetie gold necklace gold chain necklace, Anita Ko black shark tooth necklace available on Moda Operandi, White shark tooth of the same variety, Blanca Monros Gomez diamond bar necklace. Bottom row: Bauble Bar neon ID bracelet, Topshop 3 skull knuckle duster, Cathy Waterman tiny flower ring, Alexander McQueen Swarovski crystal double skull ring, Chan Luu wrap bracelet.
While the aforementioned black shark tooth is priced around the rent of a New York City apartment, I challenge you to find one as worthy and/or ridiculously cool. If not, you should be able to draw some inspiration from the above looks and tell me your favorite picks. Finally, don’t forget to click on those links above as they do tell the whole story.
Clickety click. Stay cool, July. Happy Monday! xxoo
