Day number two, I stayed close to home and explored the chic boutiques of the Left Bank, starting at Isabel Marant, one of the hottest darling’s of today’s fashion scene. I had my eyes on a pair of pink jeans and fringe boots which I saw on the runways last spring, and they had finally reached the boutique. Trying to stay au courant, I snapped those up along with her infamous sided high top sneakers. I made an instant connection with the store manager and the staff, and loved how oh so stylish, skinny and Parisian those girls were.
I then headed to Jerome Dreyfuss where the fall collection was in full swing. Yup, the one bag I had my eye on was a green oversized python and at 3,500 EURO that wasn’t making it home with me without a divorce. I die.
I then took the Metro to Le Bon Marché , the iconic department store where the local Parisians shop. Now owned by LVMH, the store includes a designer emporium, a gourmet market, a nail salon, a book store, games, and modern furniture. A central atrium compartmentalizes the cosmetics, mens fashion, and womens’ fashion organized in breezy well-kept arrangements organized by designer. Marni, Balenciaga, Carven, Dries Van Noten, and Chloé are a few names I spotted, but the store was quite expansive, and it would have required several hours to browse everything, more than my limited time budget allowed.
I wanted to see every shop in the district and the best way to do that was to hop on a Vélib’ bike. What could be better than exploring Paris on two wheels, chocolate macaron in hand.
I stopped into my favorite stores that are super chic just by default. Agnes b, Berenice, APC, Manoush, Vanessa Bruno, Stella Forest, Maje, Carven, the list goes on. I played fashion victim, browsed all the collections and realized I only wanted to bring home unique and eclectic finds.
After my day, I quickly headed to my three favorite boutiques, tried on what I adored, and felt like a true Parisian. I had a fashionista revelation: never will I dress like an American girl ever again.
After dinner at Le Comptoir, I made a list of what to accomplish when I get back home. French classes, and a class of the history of fashion.
Right about now I am dreaming of Paris, with me, there smack in the middle of Paris Fashion Week.
